Cleveland Heights earned contributions throughout the lineup Tuesday, defeating North Olmsted 4-1 in a girls tennis match at North Olmsted. Senior Virginia secured the deciding point with a 7-6, 6-0 victory, completing a strong team performance.

The second doubles team of Cordy Bender and Ginger McClellan gave Cleveland Heights an early lift. The pair won the opening set 6-3 before taking complete control in the second, closing out a 6-0 set to finish the first victory of the match. Their straight-set result established momentum for a lineup that collected two singles wins and two doubles wins.

Quinn Lilly-Bidinger delivered the afternoon’s comeback. After dropping the first set 6-2, she responded by sweeping the second set 6-0 to force a match-deciding super tiebreaker. Quinn Lilly-Bidinger carried that turnaround into the final stage, winning the super tiebreaker 10-2 and adding another point for Cleveland Heights.

Blaise Lillly and Molly Watterson also provided an important doubles victory, prevailing in a tiebreaker. Their ability to execute in the tightest portion of the match helped put Cleveland Heights in position to clinch the overall result. North Olmsted collected one team point, but Cleveland Heights’ success across both portions of the lineup created the separation in the 4-1 final.

The clinching moment belonged to Virginia. The senior worked through a close opening set and won it 7-6, then pulled away for a 6-0 second set. That straight-set victory sealed a road result built on a fast doubles start, Quinn Lilly-Bidinger’s three-set recovery and composed play in multiple tiebreak situations.
