Cleveland Heights High School’s boys and girls cross country teams traveled to the Columbus area Saturday for the Cruiser Invitational, where Kassadi Thompson led the Tigers with a first-place finish in the girls varsity race. Kassadi Thompson completed the course in 18 minutes, 37.90 seconds, setting another school record while finishing ahead of the varsity field.

The victory gave Cleveland Heights the meet’s top individual girls finish and established the front of the Tigers’ varsity results. Rather than simply earning a high placement, Kassadi Thompson converted the race into another entry in the school record book. The 18:37.90 performance provided the clearest highlight of the day for a program that sent both teams to Groveport for the meet hosted by Groveport Madison High School.

Cleveland Heights also placed two more competitors among the first 30 finishers in the girls varsity standings. Sydney Kilgo secured a top-25 finish, and Meldrick Williams finished inside the top 30. Those results gave the Tigers three runners near the front of the field and added important depth behind the individual champion.

The Cruiser Invitational offered the boys and girls teams an early-season trip away from home and a chance to compete against an invitational field.
