CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio - Cleveland Heights High School defeated Lakewood 3-1 on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Denison Park, with Juniper Hare scoring in the final seconds to seal the victory. The Tigers got goals from three different players in the varsity girls soccer match, spreading the scoring across a productive second half.
Neither team scored before halftime, leaving the match undecided heading into the break. That scoreless start gave way to a second half in which the teams combined for four goals.
Auri Langan scored the first of the Tigers' three goals as Cleveland Heights turned its second-half attack into the winning margin. Sierra Terman supplied the Tigers' set-piece scoring contribution, converting a free kick for the Tigers second goal. Hare's late finish provided the final separation, extending the margin in the closing seconds rather than leaving Cleveland Heights to protect a one-goal lead.
The Tigers finish the season with a 10-6 regular season record. They head to Perrysburg on Tuesday, October 27th for the opening round of the state playoffs.
